An Egyptian passport is the primary travel document and a key form of identification outside Egypt. Preparing an application accurately can prevent delays, especially when personal details differ or the applicant is a minor or has lost a previous passport.

Before applying

Check that the national ID card is valid and that the name, date of birth, and occupation match it. Prepare photographs and any documents supporting military service, student, or professional status as relevant. Confirm the latest requirements of the Passport, Immigration and Nationality Administration before filing.

Renewal, loss, and damage

For a renewal, submit the previous passport according to current instructions. If it is lost or damaged, a police report, disclosure of the circumstances, or additional steps may be required. Do not provide inconsistent information to work around a discrepancy; correct the underlying record first.

Minors and special cases

An application for a minor may require proof of the applicant’s capacity and documents relating to guardianship or custody where relevant. Some cases may also require additional approvals or documents depending on the applicant’s legal circumstances.

Check the passport when issued

Review the spelling of the name in both languages, date of birth, sex, national ID number, and validity period. If you find an error, contact the issuing authority before booking travel or presenting the passport to another institution.
