A foreign business should select its Egyptian presence according to what it will actually do, not according to registration speed.
| Feature | Egyptian company | Foreign branch | Representative office |
|---|---|---|---|
| Commercial revenue | Yes, after licensing | Yes, within registered scope | No |
| Separate legal person | Yes | No | No |
| Liability | Usually limited by structure | Foreign parent | Foreign parent |
| Primary purpose | Operating a business | Parent company activity | Market study |
A representative office must not become an informal sales operation. A branch is appropriate only when the parent is prepared to conduct and bear the Egyptian activity. An Egyptian company is normally better for an independent long-term business, local partnerships or external investment.
